As you may have noticed, netbooks are all the rage nowadays thanks to their portability and affordability. Those of you who had the pleasure of using and owning a netbook would have quickly noticed that they are meant for performing very light computing tasks like surfing the web and checking emails.
Due to certain compromises to maintain a small price and a low price point, netbooks are indeed less powerful and because of that, not as practical as laptops when it comes to performing computing tasks. Fortunately all is not loss, thanks to a new breed of ultra portable laptops. Among them is the very stylish 11.6-inch Toshiba Satellite T215D-S1140 laptop.
The Toshiba Satellite T215D-S1140 measures at just 11.2 x 8.2 x 1.03 inches in dimensions and weighs just 3.3 pounds. It may not be as light as netbooks but they are definitely much lighter than your average notebook. You can easily carry it in your back without feeling like lugging a piece of brick around.
Thanks to its slightly larger size, it has a larger screen and a more powerful set of specs. The screen is a 11.6-inch HD display and it comes with an AMD Athlon II Neo processor, 250GB of storage and 2 GB of DDR3 RAM. For HD movies playback, this model even comes with an ATI Radeon HD 4225 graphics processor. Some of its other features include wireless-n wi-fi connectivity, a HDMI output and a memory card reader.
As mentioned, the Toshiba Satellite T215D-S1140 is also very stylish with its chrome finish and the black exterior. Its full sized keyboard looks great with its chiclets-style keys that were oh-so-comfortable to use (compared to a netbook's relatively cramped keyboard). All in all, the new Toshiba Satellite T215D-S1140 has the perfect balance between affordability, portability and practicality. It is much more comfortable to use compared to netbooks yet much lighter and cheaper than many laptop models. At the moment, this model is retailing at just around $479 per unit.
